Community Council Minutes 10-3-2022
Lakeview Elementary Community Council
Meeting Minutes – October 3, 2022
Meeting was called to order. In attendance were the following members: Mr. Okey, Mrs.
Crocker, Mrs. Walker, MacKenzie Kellar, Jordan Schmidt, Becca Bennett, Sarah Christensen, and
Nate Shoell. We talked about reviewing a video about how the trust lands were established and where the
funding comes from. Mr. Okey advised that he would send an internet link to a video that talks
about those subjects since not all council members were in attendance. Council members were given a copy of the Rules of Order and Procedure to review and asked if
there were any changes we would like to make to them. At this time the council did not elect to
make any changes. Mr. Okey asked if any of the parents would like to volunteer to be the secretary for the
community council. Mr. Okey clarified that the secretary was responsible for taking notes and
completing the meeting minutes after each meeting. Becca Bennett was selected as the new
secretary for the council. Mr. Okey reviewed the prior school year plan and highlighted what areas the funding went to
and the goals that were set. We discussed the priorities for the current school year as well as
next year and the general consensus was that the funding should remain in place for additional
staff. Mr. Okey advised that by December he would have the data for the prior school year and would
review that with the council. This data will show if the goals set last year were achieved and will
give the council information on how to proceed with setting goals for the next school year. We
also discussed the different due dates for the plan for the upcoming school year. The final plan
will be due March 10th with a final review date of March 17th
. The council set the remainder of the meetings for the 2022-2023 school year. They will be as
follows: Monday November 21, 2022 at 3:30 pm
Monday January 23, 2023 at 3:30 pm
Monday March 6, 2023 at 3:30 pm
Monday May 1, 2023 at 3:30 pm
The council will work on getting virtual meetings set up for the remainder of the year so that if
parents or staff are not available to attend in person, they will still be able to attend meetings
virtually.
