The School Children’s Trust Section at the Utah State Office of Education was created to support the beneficiary of the School Trust Lands, the Utah State Board of Education representing K-12 public education. The section administers the School LAND Trust program, monitors the School and Institutional Trust Land Administration (SITLA) as they manage the trust lands for the benefit of the public schools, and oversees the investment of the permanent State School Fund by the School and Institutional Trust Fund Office (SITFO).
The purpose of the Lakeview Community Council is to create a yearly school improvement fund to better the academic experience of each student at Lakeview Elementary though the use of these funds.
The membership of a school community council includes the principal, teachers elected by teachers, and a majority of parents elected by parents of students at the school. It is their responsibility to plan and report on the usage of funds allocated to the school as part of the School LAND Trust Program. The plan the council writes focuses of the school’s greatest academic need (s). The most effective councils and committees are those whose members work collaboratively to develop plans to aid all students in reaching their potential.
Plans are approved by the local school board.
Council meetings are held a few times during the school year and are open to the public. Contact the school principal if you would like to get involved with the Community Council.
