Community Council Meeting Minutes
November 6, 2018
Members present: Shirley Passey, David Campbell, Amy Peterson, Cathy Fisher, Debbie Merrill Matty Bryant, Susan Schreiner
The meeting was called to order at 4:30.
The meeting started by welcoming our newest member, Susan Schreiner.
David Campbell then reviewed the changes that were made to the Parent Involvement Plan. The name has been changed to the Family Engagement Policy. This policy is given to each family to encourage them to come to the school and participate in activities and be involved in their child’s education.
This document was printed in Spanish as well as English.
Next the council discussed how the school should spend the $14,200 Trustlands money that is still available.
Shirley suggested that the school would benefit from a 4 hour a day math aid to help the younger grades. Also there is a need for more I-Pads in Kindergarten. Shirley can add some Title 1 money if needed to make sure there is enough money to cover the I-Pads.
These changes were put to a council vote and they were approved unanimously.
Next the council reviewed what a Community Council member’s duties are for the year. Shirley said that she would send links for the members to watch the videos on Trustlands and how they work and how they started benefitting Utah schools.
Shirley shared with the council that Lakeview Elementary and North Park Elementary are part of a state STEM project. Both schools are being given free access to Dreambox which is a math program that is adaptive to help the students at the level they are at.
At the next meeting the council will talk about the school data scores. They will also make goals for the 2019-2020 school year.
The next meeting will be on January 8, 2019 at 4:30 in room 26.
We adjourned at 4:50
