Agenda 01-19-2015

Present: Jenny Ross, Shirley Passey, Amy Peterson, Julie Bunderson, Lamar Bunderson Absent: Jason Bird, Justin Starkey, Karlee Treese Start time: 5:10pm Julie Bunderson, the assistant chairperson, was officiating at the meeting. We started the meeting by talking about the PACE scores. If a parent wants to access these scores they can go to the Lakeview Elementary website, click on Parents, 2015, then PACE report. There are SAGE scores for 3rd grade and 6th grade. Our School went from a C to a D. We went up in Language Arts and Math but down 2% in Science. Writing is 1/3 of the test so teachers are going to focus on that this year. Next we discussed the Title I plan for the school. The categories include: 1. Certified Salaries 2. Title I Aides 3. Contracted Services 4. Conference Workshops 5. Parent Involvement a. Family Nights 6. General Supplies a. Reading, Math, Science 7. Instructional Equipment 8. Textbooks a. Planners for each child b. Math Consumables One of the things the school is doing to improve is having the 2nd and 3rd grade teachers do what is called vertical teaming. This is where the teachers in those grades get together and discuss what needs to be taught in 2nd grade to help the kids succeed in 3rd grade. One example is the amount of typing on the SAGE test. The 2nd grade children are using time in the computer lab to help them learn to type. The last item discussed was that our school is 2.7% away from being able to get out of being a focus school.
