School/Parent/Student Compact Title 1

Lakeview Elementary 2020-2021

SCHOOL-PARENT COMPACT
Lakeview Elementary and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) (participating children), agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire district/school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards.

School Responsibilities 1. Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards as follows:

All Teachers and staff will:
• Be trained in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and trained as a Leader in Me school.

• Encourage and support students’ learning in person and/or virtually.

• Believe that each student can learn.

• Use positive actions and words that follow Leader in Me and school-wide positive behavior systems.

• Maintain and foster high standards of academic achievement and positive behavior.

• Respectfully and accurately, inform parents of their child’s progress.

• Have high expectations for students and be committed to continuous growth for the teacher, staff, and the school.

• Respect cultural differences of students, their families and other staff members.

• Help students resolve conflicts in positive, nonviolent ways.

• Coordinate efforts with other staff to support the success of each child.

• Create a caring, inclusive, stimulating, and safe school/classroom setting.

• Set class and individual goals with parents to help with academic success using data folders

2. Hold parent-teacher conferences in person or virtually (at least annually in elementary schools) during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement. Specifically, those conferences will be held: •Conferences held twice per year at each building. A letter will be sent with each student regarding information about the conference(s). •Conferences can be arranged at a mutually agreed upon time with the teacher and parent/guardian.

3. Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress. Specifically, the school will provide reports as follows:
•Parents will be provided with information in order for them to access the school district portal which will enable them to access their child’s grade, missing work, attendance, and lunch account balances. •Report cards will be available on the school district Portal at the end of each quarter.

4. Provide parents reasonable access to staff. Specifically, staff will be available for consultation with parents as follows:
•Parents may e-mail or call teacher at any time. A staff- list is available on our website with the school’s phone number.
*A student advocate will be assigned to all virtual learners for the 2020-2021 school year.

5. Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class and to observe classroom activities, as follows: (Due to COVID-19 we are unable to provide opportunities for parents to be in our school for the 2020-2021 school year.)


Parent Responsibilities:
We, as parents, will support our student’s learning in the following ways:
Monitor attendance by:
• Notifying the school when my student is ill or missing school for the day. • Making a commitment to have my student at school on time each day and encourage them to stay for the entire instructional day and/or participating daily in virtual learning.
In addition – parents will:
• Provide my students with an opportunity to complete any homework in a distraction free environment.

• Encourage my students to accept responsibility for their learning and conduct.

• Participate, as appropriate, in decisions relating to my student’s education.

• Promote positive use of my student’s extracurricular time.

• Stay informed about my student’s education and communicating with the school by promptly reading all notices from the school or the school district, and responding as appropriate.

• Serving, to the extent possible, on policy advisory groups, such as participating in the school’s Community Council, becoming a member of the PTA, and be aware of other school advisory or policy groups.

Student Responsibilities:
We, as students, will share the responsibility to improve our academic achievement and achieve the state’s high standards. Specifically, we will:

• Learn and follow The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and be a Leader in Me participant.

• Put forth my best effort in my work and behavior. • Work cooperatively with my classmates and teachers. • Show respect for myself, my school, teachers, my principal, and other adults who work in the school.

• Obey the school and bus rules.

• Take pride in my school and schoolwork.

• Come ready to learn either at school or virtually.

• Believe that I can and will learn.

• Give my parents or the adult who is responsible for my welfare all notices and information received by me from my school every day.

• Back to School Night - virtually 

 • Community Council Meetings 4:00 p.m. in the media center.  September 1, October 6, January 5, March 2

• Title I Family Night – TBA according to state and CDC regulations

• Parent Conference Nights - October 12-14, 2020 and February 3-5, 2021 in person or virtually
